This will mark my 11th year in Early Childhood Education and my 11th year at CES.  I came to CES as a Pre-K Parapro and then moved to Kindergarten the next year as a Parapro.  I worked as a Parapro while I finished up my degree in Early Childhood Education.  I completed my student teaching in 2nd grade.  I was hired as a certified teacher in 4th grade the following school year.  I enjoyed teaching 4th grade, but I always wanted to move back to lower grades.  I have now served 3 years as a 2nd grade teacher.

A little about your teacher....

My name is Trish Flood Rice.  I am 34 years old and a mother of 1 adorable little girl.  My heart is FULL! I fulfill many roles as a single mom to my little red headed, rambuctious, yet absolutely amazing little angel.  I have lived in Murray County all of my life.  I attended Eton Elementary, Gladden Middle, and Murray High. I graduated with the Class of 2000 and began college the next school year.  My college plans were somewhat altered when my parents informed me that I would be having a baby brother that October! LOL I had been an only child for 18 years and planned to move to Athens to attend UGA!  However, I decided to stay home and attend Dalton State because being a part of my brother's life was more important to me.  I have no regrets at all!

Family comes 1st in my life and always has.  I value and cherish every moment spent with my family and strive to build lasting, meaningful  relationships.  I have always had a very close bond with my parents and now have a close bond with my brother.  Jay will be 16 this year and going into 10th grade at North Murray High School for the 2016-2017 school year.  He is very athletic.  He was QB for the Mountaineers during his Freshman year playing on the Freshman, Junior Varisty, and Varisty football teams.  I had never missed a game and rarely missed practices from rec ball all the way to high school until my daughter was born.  I still make every attempt possible to be at all of his games.  Jay has decided to take a break from football next year.  He is a very dedicated student and wants to focus more on his academics.  Football takes lots of time away from him.  He is enrolled in Honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment classes.

I have one daughter.  Her name is Kambrie and she will turn 3 year old in July.  She is my little red head.  This child amazes me more and more each day.  She has the sweetest personality.  God Blessed me good when he chose me to be her mother.  I thank him every day!   I never knew I could love something so much until the moment she was born.  Like I said before, my heart is full and I love every minute of it!

After family, my passions are teaching and photography.  I feel that teaching is my true calling.  My job blesses me each and every day.  It is challenging at times, but it is so worth it to make a difference in children's lives.  I also LOVE to take pictures.  My job and my family give me plenty of opportunities to capture that perfect moment in time.  I usually take anywhere from 200-300 photos at Jay's  games and just as many when I start snapping shots of Kambrie!!

Oh and by the way, I almost forgot!! I am a diehard football fan! I bleed red and black!! GO DAWGS!!!!
