Welcome Back to School!!!
My name is Mike Pritchett. I am the Principal here at Chatsworth Elementary School. I was born in Chatsworth. I attended school at Chatsworth Elementary School and graduated from Murray County High School in 1986. I attended University of West Georgia where I receieved a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Health Education. I have taught at Murray County High School, Gladden Middle School, and Chatsworth Elementary School. I have been in the Education field for 23 years. I did my graduate work at Lincoln Memorial University where I received my Master's Degree in Administration and then finished my Specialist Degree in Administration. This is my 12th year in Administration. I am so excited that this is my 7th year here at Chatsworth Elementary School. I want to take some time to talk to you about our school. I hope everyone likes our new paint job on the inside. The colors will mean more as we move into our school year nad introduce you and your students to new House System. Be looking for information to come home soon with a description of the Houses. Our staff takes great pride in setting the bar high not only for our students but for ourselves. We want to encourage everyone of our parents to be active in our school in a multitude of ways. Whether you participate in the parent-portal, PTO, the voluteer program, or our Parent Room where we offer parents who have no internet access to come in and work on-line on school and web based education programs.....we always encourage you to be an active part of your child's education. You above all people can make a difference in their life. We continuously work for your children and we not only encourage them to work hard while they are here but we have started the process of talking about life after school and setting goals for their future. Our C2G program is a career oriented program about commiting to graduate from high school and then set their goals for college or trade school. This is something that each of you can participate in as well. Encourage your children to go as far as they can so that they can become anything they want to become. One of the most motivating speakers I have heard in a while was a ten year old child from Texas who spoke to a group of teachers at their welcome back meeting. He asked if his teacher believed in him. He challenged the teachers there if they really believed in their students. I asked my teachers to make that our goal, that every child in our building knows we believe in them. But then I have to ask.......DO YOU BELIEVE TOO? Make an attempt this year to talk to your child about their future, ask them what their goals are, where they want to go, what they want to become, and inspire them to find out what it will take to get there. Then make their education important for you and for them. Let them know you BELIEVE IN THEM TOO!!! Be here and get involved.....we have a great school and it will only stay that way if you, the parents, are a part of it!!!! We have a few new staff members this year. We want to welcome to our staff Mr. Brandon Headrick who will be teaching our 3rd and 4th grade Science for us. We have Kayla Easley who is one our new 3rd grade teachers, Lindsey Nestor is a new 4th grade teacher, Heidi Hammond is our new 1st grade teacher, and Lindsey Deye is our new Councelor. We added a couple of new paraprofessionals as well. Mrs. Cristen Huggins and Carrie Fraser. Also we will be introducing a new program this year and it is a BYOD, Bring Your Own Device. As quickly as technology is changing, we are aware that a handheld device is almost common place within our students' lives. So we have been chosen as 1 of 4 schools in Murray County this year to pilot a Bring Your Own Device Program. More info will be sent home about this as we move into the new school year. The first week has flown by and we are so excited to have everyone back at school and learning so much. If any of you need anything please feel free to come by and see me or just give me a call. I wish each of you the best year ever.
